Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!
I thought of this verse this week when a large package arrived at my home and I did not know who or from where it came.
I have started a new “adventure”, a new path, an exciting but unsure time to say the least. It doesn’t matter what it is. It is change and I don’t know where this new adventure is going to take me.
I have asked God His thoughts before I began and He has remained silent. I continue to ask for His guidance and as each door has opened I cautiously walk through, pleasantly surprised each time when calamity doesn’t prevail.
When this package came, I inspected it, shook it and squeezed it. I didn’t recognize the company it was from or did I remember asking for this gift. I was a little cautious but mostly curious. It was an unexpected package, an unexpected gift from someone I do not know…I opened it.
…and that is when I remembered Matthew 7:9-11. Do I not know The One who is with me on this new adventure? Do I not know that He is generous and trustworthy? I do know this! I know Him and He knows me.
Yes, He is asking me to trust Him as I walk this new path. It isn’t because this path has something great for me…He does. Himself and the growing knowledge that as I trust and obey Him, regardless of the path, HE is sovereign, He is faithful, He is The Father, giver of all things good. He is our Protector in the valley and on the mountain top!
Oh, Father,
I am overwhelmed with joy in remembering Your sovereignty and faithfulness. My heart is light and my mind is clear, not because I know what is ahead, but because I know You do. Please be with me and protect me regardless of what lies ahead. Enable me to finish. I want to glorify You Lord each day, in my words, my thoughts and my actions.
Let me never leave Your side, You are my sanctuary, You are my treasure.
