Sheep and Valleys

“The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want”

Jesus is personal. He knows me.   He keeps me and protects me. He provides for me.

“He makes me lie down in green pastures,”

Jesus gives me rest, generous, life-restoring, abundant rest.

“he leads me beside quiet waters,”

Jesus is the way and leads me to peace and refreshment.

      “he restores my soul.”

Jesus redeems me and brings me back to my original position as a child of God

“He guides me in paths of righteousness”

My response to Jesus’ leading is obedience

     “For his name’s sake.”

It is by my following Jesus I am known

“Even though I walk

through the valley of the shadow of death,”

Jesus has the power and authority to bring us through the valley.

When we surrender to God and believe him, he will use the valley for our growth and His glory.

“I will fear no evil,

     for you are with me;”

“The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

“your rod and your staff,

     they comfort me.”

Scripture and the Holy Spirit are my rod and staff.

“You prepare a table before me

in the presence of my enemies.”

“They will come and shout for joy on the heights of Zion; they will rejoice in the bounty of the Lord— the grain, the new wine and the olive oil, the young of the flocks and herds. They will be like a well-watered garden, and they will sorrow no more.”

Eternal love, peace, joy, hope, and life is the bounty you provide while my enemies observe

“You anoint my head with oil;

   my cup overflows.

Surely goodness and love will follow me

All the days of my life,

and I will dwell in the house of the LORD

     forever.”
