Freedom. True Freedom

Romans 8:15-16 “The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.”

July 4th, a day truly for celebration and remembrance of our freedom provided by God and those who fought and continue to fight for the inalienable right that all men are created equal and free.

When I think about one of the most powerful positions in the world, President of the United States of America, and how many of these presidents have had children. I can only imagine that when his child came to him in need, that he would stop to hear them and take care of that child’s need. He is the President, he is powerful, he is busy, but that is his child. They are loved, they are valued, they are protected. They do not live in fear but in confidence that their father who has the authority, and power to help them, also has the desire.

I tend to forget who I am or to whom I belong. I am, we are, a child of Almighty God, heir of God, co-heir with Christ. We have full and complete access to the one who defeated death, gives life, and sustains all life. So live strong and courageous, not in fear, do not tremble. If God is for us who can stand against us? He has the desire, the authority, and the power.

Thank you, Christ Jesus for willingly making the sacrifice that we might live free: Free from fear, free from temptation, free from death.

“ When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”

“Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?”

The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”   1 Corinthians 15:54-57

Jesus, thank you for making the way for us to have total access to the Father, our Father. That we can share with you as heir and live boldly, with courage and confidence in the one who loves us and gives life now and forevermore.
