Renew

Isaiah 40:28-31

Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
 He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
 Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
 but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

I have a twenty-four-year-old daughter. A lot of the photos I post are ones she has taken with her cell phone. When she was young her asthma would keep her from being able to run. Some days breathing was such a labor, she would not be able to even sit on the floor to play by herself. October through March was painful to watch as she would struggle for air. When the neighborhood children came over to play, from inside the house I could hear her calling, “Wait for me, I can’t keep up!” I would look and she was usually alone, trying to keep up, but always behind. She would keep going, never giving up. It pains my heart thinking back to those days.

Isaiah reminds me we are not alone. The everlasting God does not grow weary. He strengthens and increases the power of the weak. Today, my daughter is by no means weak. I have watched her grow and become stronger physically, mentally, and spiritually in her walk with Christ. I have watched God’s power be displayed in her life as He is developing a courage in her to care for and protect the weak, the young and the elderly.

Isaiah’s words encourage, strengthen and empower us to face a new day because we are reminded we are not alone. The everlasting God does not grow weary. He sustains this world and He can sustain us. We can find rest in Him because His yoke is light. Our hope is renewed each day…sometimes moment to moment, some days he carries us until we can stand again, but when we trust in Him and find He is always faithful, we can be assured to never be left behind or forgotten.

With all my heart Lord, Thank you.
