Two-Faced

2 Corinthians 11

And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.

I spent hours at a mall last weekend. I did not think it had been so long since I had been to a mall. Perhaps it was the location of the mall and the diversity of the local population, but the culture and merchandise collectively was an eye-opener.

I was surprised at how unlimited the offerings to teach me how to become the strongest me, the best me, more in touch with me… my spirit, my spirituality, my sun, my moon…I was overwhelmed. There were stores specializing in; lotions, jewelry, bath salts, music, chimes, charms, and rocks. I had no idea how prevalent this spirit culture was. I felt very much like one who lives under a rock.

I began looking at the people and noticed how solitary each person was, to the point, no one seemed to be aware of anyone else around them. Salespeople excluded. No eye contact, no smiles, no excuse me, just bodies collected in the same place fending for themselves to become better selves.

My heart was saddened thinking these souls were on the search for completeness, happiness, contentment, and peace. Searching and learning, practicing and purchasing to reach that place, to fill that spot… not to be found in self.

Isn’t it strange how the darkness hides from the light and cannot overtake the light? But, to steal one’s light, darkness must masquerade as light, or enlightenment.

I heard this on the radio once, it made me smile then and still does. “Want supernatural? Christianity is as supernatural as you can get…Jesus lived, He died, and came to life again! Christianity is a supernatural faith!

Holy God, Emanuel,

You are above and beyond the created universe. You are not restricted to this world but came into this realm to address humanity’s spiritual nature and need. Thank you.

Help us to gain our understanding of the supernatural from You, as You reveal to us through Your Word, from Your self-revelation and not human reasoning or speculation.

Christ Jesus,

Please draw near and soften the hearts of those who seek You, that they will recognize Your Light and love for themselves alone, and all people.

Thank you Victory, This one was hard to write because I know the hole that is trying to be filled can only be filled by One. The trip was such an eye-opener and heartbreaker for me. I fight the urge to stay home and shop online…but I gotta let my little light shine huh. 🙂
